Ditch the Razor, Try our Laser!

Laser hair removal is one of the best ways to simplify your routine and stop worrying about waxing, shaving and tweezing. Everyone has unwanted hair, and it can be a pain (literally!) to deal with. Regardless of which area you’re looking to treat, laser hair removal can help. Treatments are fast, easy and have very minimal discomfort! Finally, the days of painful plucking and messy epilators are over!
Hair-free and Care-free: BBL and the Cutera Excel HR
We utilize different types of lasers to treat a variety of skin types and complexions, including darker skin tones. Everyone’s skin is different, which is why we completely customize your treatment from start to finish to ensure you achieve the best results possible.
At Juvly some branches use the Cutera Excel HR (Florida, Ohio, New York) while others use the Sciton BBL ( Minnesota, Wisconsin). BBL or Broad Band Light utilizes pulses of light energy to gently penetrate into the skin and specifically target and disable unwanted hair follicles. Hair grows in three stages, and when it’s in the anagen (growth) stage, it is most vulnerable to laser therapy. BBL selectively heats the full length of the hair follicle, cutting off its supply of nutrients and disabling its growth.

Laser hair removal can be performed on almost any area for any skin color or hair type, but hair color is the most important factor when it comes to treatment. We can effectively treat dark hair because it has the targeted melanocytes but can’t treat white, gray, blond, and red hair. During your initial consultation, we will determine if you’re a candidate and which laser type you’ll require. For lighter skin types the Alexandrite laser is often used, while the YAG laser is best used on individuals with darker skin tones.
You may be wondering what terms like YAG mean – it’s simply the laser’s wavelength and strength. The long-pulse YAG is widely considered the safest wavelength for laser hair removal on darker skin tones. The Cutera Excel HR laser system, is an innovative hair removal system which combines the power of YAG and contact cooling – providing continuous cooling, maximum comfort, and great results.

Many clients have described laser hair removal as feeling like a rubber band snapping against their skin – while others swear that the experience was totally painless. Compared to waxing and other kinds of hair removal, this treatment is definitely more comfortable. However, if the thought of even the slightest discomfort bothers you, topical numbing for the area can be done. \
Areas and Duration of Treatment
The full process typically requires a series of 6-10 sessions to achieve a 80-90% hair reduction. With every treatment, you’ll progressively see fewer and fewer hairs return. Those that do are finer. Finishing the recommended number of treatment sessions is crucial, as it ensures you’ll see maximum results for your laser hair removal. Hair growth has varying stagesYou can choose any size area to treat (SM-XL) but keep in mind you’ll need more sessions to see the full results! Whenever an area has 2 parts, such as underarms, both underarms are considered 1 area.

Who are not good candidates for Laser Hair Reduction
To avoid hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation issues, you can’t be treated if you’ve taken Accutane or had chemo in the last 6 months, pregnant or breastfeeding, had any sun exposure in the last 4 weeks, used self-tanner or got a spray tan in the last 2 weeks, or plan to get some sun in the coming weeks.
Scheduling Your Treatments
The procedure is repeated several times to progressively catch all hair growing at the anagen stage.
– Facial hair and underarm hair reduction: 1 treatment every 6-8 weeks for 6-10 treatments total.
– Legs and back hair reduction: 1 treatment every 10-12 weeks for 6-10 treatments total.
– All other body hair reduction: 1 treatment every 8-10 weeks for 6-10 treatments total. After the course of treatment is completed, we recommend yearly maintenance.
Before and After Treatment Care
Make sure to shave the treatment area 2 days before treatment. After your treatment you can resume normal activities right away. No sun, sunbed tanning, sauna or hot tub on the area for 2 weeks – wearing sunscreen is not likely to offer enough protection.
