Coming from someone who has only recently gotten their lips done for the first time, let me tell you, I had questions!

Many of those questions stemmed from what I had seen in the media and what I had heard through the world’s biggest grapevine: The Internet.

With the overabundance of online information about lip injections that we have access to these days, it can seem daunting to have to try to decipher which of those answers are the most accurate. That shouldn’t be the case!

What kind of filler should I get? How long will it last? Will the injection hurt? Will I look like an entirely different person?

If any or all of these questions sound familiar, good! You’re in the right place!

Take my virtual hand and let me help you put your mind at ease so you can start rocking your new lips without worry.

Question 1: Will my lips look crazy or unnatural with filler?

This is probably the question I hear the most from clients and if there’s one piece of advice I can give you, it’s to do your research!

The popularity of lip filler has been on the rise over the past few years, and it’s become significantly easier to locate high-quality clinics that offer this particular service. Just like anything else, however, there are also some less-than-stellar places out there that give filler a less-than-stellar reputation.

This is why doing your research is so important.

At Juvly, our main goal is to simply enhance your own natural beauty. We want you to leave our offices feeling confident and beautiful, not scary or overdone.

You can trust that all of our injectors are fully trained, qualified in administering these treatments, and truly strive to help you look and feel your absolute best! We’ll work with you to achieve your desired result – safely and professionally.

Question 2: What type of lip filler should I get? What are the differences?

Kysse, Versa, Refyne, Ultra Plus, Defyne… excuse me, what?

There are multiple lip filler products on the market, and it can be a confusing choice if you’re a first-timer.

Like, your best friend’s sister got Juvederm Ultra Plus and it looks sooo good, but that girl on YouTube got Restylane Refyne and that looks even better.

How do I choose the best one for me!?

Everyone’s face is different – this is an obvious statement.

Some fillers will give you that plump, juicy look, while others will give you a subtle hint of fullness. It really comes down to the desired result you want.

When you’re researching different lip shapes, proportions, fullness, etc., try to scope out individuals that have a similar face shape or structure as your own to get a better idea of how you’d like to enhance your lips.

Pro Tip: Take screenshots, bring pictures of lips you like, the whole nine yards! Your provider will then be able to give you the best recommendation based on what you are looking for.

Question 3: Does it hurt to get lip injections?

I’ve heard multiple people compare the feeling to a tiny bee sting, but no one else is going to experience it in the exact same way that you will.

Going into my first treatment, I was terrified. Keep in mind, I deal with needles and injections on a daily basis, but being on the receiving end and having a long, sharp object coming toward your face is a different story.

It’s no question that your lips are a sensitive area in general, but I was definitely being over dramatic about it.

First, you have the option of topical numbing cream or a dental block – like dentists use to numb you before a cavity filling. I chose the dental block and after a few slight pinches in my gums, I felt… nothing. My entire mouth was as numb as can be and I had zero pain going forward.

Of course, everyone reacts to certain anesthetics in different ways, but my overall experience was great.

Question 4: Will I bruise?

Some bruising can occur – especially since the skin on and around your lips are more sensitive than other areas – but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it will occur. If it does, it can typically be covered with some spot concealer and usually disappears within five days.

Question 5: Will they swell?

The same goes for swelling. The second-day post-treatment is when you can expect the most swelling to occur, but you’ll notice a gradual decrease in swelling over the following days. Again, it doesn’t happen to everyone, but it’s important to know that it can.

Long story short, the overall pain and healing process is totally doable and not bad whatsoever. If you’re lusting after some lips, we are here to help you get ’em!

Question 6: How long will they last?

There are a few different factors that can affect how long your lip filler will last. Each different filler has its own lasting power.

Your own body chemistry and lifestyle can play a big part in it as well. If you have a fast metabolism and/or are extremely active, there’s a higher chance that the filler might metabolize quicker for you.

Not to worry, though – you’re still going to get an awesome amount of “wear time” out of your beautiful, new lips!

With the specific fillers that we use at Juvly, you can expect an average of 6-12 months, and can always get touch-ups if needed.

It’s not a permanent treatment, and that’s the beauty of it! Again, we only want to enhance your beautiful features, not completely change them.

So whether your main concern is size, shape, fullness, etc. We will help you create your perfect pout.

When it comes down to it, it’s your face. You want to look good and feel confident in your own skin – and if a little enhancement gets you feeling even better, why not give it a whirl?
