I WANT TO…
Frequently Asked Questions:
What is microblading?
Microblading is a semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo that lasts 1-2 years depending on skin type and at home skin care routine. The procedure is done by using a hand tool with ultra fine needles that form a small thin blade. Each ‘hair’ is gently etched into the skin by creating natural wispy hair like stroke, giving your brows an incredibly natural and realistic look. Anyone is a good candidate for microblading; whether you have full brows or no brows!
Is the touch up session (perfection session) necessary?
Yes! The touch up session after 4-6 weeks is necessary and included as everyone heals differently and outcome will vary. Certain areas may not pick up during first session and will need to be refilled. Pigment color may need to be adjusted, brow thickness and more strokes can be added. Most importantly, your touch up session is when we refine your brows to ensure it looks perfect and retains the color!
What’s the process like? Do I pick my color/shape?
For the first Microblading session, the entire procedure should take about 2 hours. The first 30 minutes of the appointment you will be numbing (we use the highest strength of topical lidocaine available). During this session, the brow technician will shape, draw on and style the client’s brows for client approval as well as the pigment color selection. Once the client is satisfied with the choices, we begin the procedure.
Please note that microblading is semi-permanent and can be a different experience for each individual client. Oily skin types do not retain the pigment as well as those with drier skin types. Touch ups will be necessary down the road to keep up with the shape and color. Most people need a touch up about a year after their perfection session.
Who can not do microblading?
People who have a history of keloids or hypertrophic scarring are not able to microblade. Check with provider, some circumstances are okay. Anyone currently on accutane or who has taken it in the past year is also not a candidate. Also clients who have had chemo in the past year are not candidates.
How long does that appointment take?
2 hours for the entire appointment. 30 mins for numbing, 30 mins for drawing in shape and picking color and 1 hour for the microblading process.
Does it hurt?
On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the most painful, most clients say they experience a 4-5 on pain. Some people say they experience no pain! Each experience is different depending on each individual client and their own pain tolerance.
What should I avoid before the appointment?
Clients should avoid taking ibuprofen, drinking coffee or taking any fish oils. All of these are blood thinners and we prefer you to not use them prior to the appointment. Also avoid alcohol the night before or day of the procedure.
How long will my tattoo last?
Most microblading tattoos last up to 3 years with a regular touch up about once a year.
Oily skin types don’t hold the pigment as well. These clients usually experience having more upkeep with their brows than clients with dry skin.
Do I pick my color?
Yes! During the procedure the provider and client will pick the brow color out together.
Do I pick my shape?
Your provider will draw in a shape specifically to your face and shape. Each brow is different for each client. We can make them as bushy or as thin as you would like them.
Is there down time?
No down time! Most clients even go back to work right after their procedure. There is minimal swelling and redness. You will go through a 4 week healing process (refer to the microblading happiness sheet)
Can you work on clients with Alopecia?
Absolutely! This procedure is great for people who have alopecia. It’s a nice way to give someone with no hair left on their brows a nice realistic look.
