Before Your Facial

The preparation required before treatment is minimal but it is suggested that any retinol product should be discontinued 3 days before treatment.
Inform your provider before treatment if you have any skin allergies or have an active breakout.
You cannot get a facial if you have an active cold sore.
If you have recently used the medication Accutane, it is recommended to postpone treatment until at least six months after stopping the medication.
Excess hair may need to be shaved. Men should be cleanly shaved 24 hours before treatment.

Chemical Peels

Before Your Chemical Peel Treatment

If you’ve started any antibiotics or other medications since your initial visit, please let us know.
Do not schedule this procedure if you are pregnant, think you are pregnant or are breastfeeding.
Clients actively undergoing chemo or radiation treatment cannot be treated. Clients must be in remission 6 months to be treated.
If you have an active cold sore, fever blister, canker sore, or shingles you will need to postpone treatment. If you are prone to developing cold sores, fever blisters, or shingles, please contact us 1 week before treatment for recommendations.
Continue to use gentle skincare products and cleansers post procedure.
Do inform your Aesthetician or Provider of all medical conditions, medications you are taking, skin disorders, allergies, history of anaphylaxis, and any other medical problems.
Although you will see some results after 1 chemical peel, for best results we recommend a series of 3-6 chemical peels.
For better penetration of the chemicals in the peel consider a dermaplane prior to your chemical peel. Not all peels actually cause peeling on everyone. This does not mean it is not working or that you are not receiving the benefits from your peel.

Do not get Botox or dermal fillers 24 hours before a peel. However, you can have a chemical peel and then Botox on the same day.
Avoid any irritants (such as retinol, retinoid, glycolic, salicylic acids, benzoyl peroxide, alpha or beta hydroxy acids, astringents and Vitamin C) to your face for 7 days before treatment. If your skin is irritated please contact our office at least 24 hours prior to appointment to reschedule.
Do not wax, tweeze, or use depilatory creams such as Nair.
Avoid artificial tanning and sun exposure 2 weeks prior to the scheduled treatment.

After Your Chemical Peel Treatment

Day 1: Do not apply anything else to the skin. Your skin will appear sunburned today and will continue to get more red as the day continues. It will begin to feel tight. You may also experience itching or mild burning as the peel penetrates deeper into the skin. You can help to alleviate this sensation by taking Benadryl or Zyrtec (for itching) and Aspirin or Tylenol (for discomfort) as needed, unless otherwise directed by your physician. Avoid wearing makeup or tight fitting glasses for the first 3 days. Pressure from the nosepiece could cause deepening of the peel in that area.
Day 2: Your skin will continue to feel very tight and dry. The top layers of the skin are dehydrating. You will look like you have an uneven sunburn/tan. You may still feel comfortable in public today. By the end of the day, your skin may begin to flake, usually starting between your eyes, around your mouth and nose. Sun damaged spots may turn darker prior to peeling. Rinse your face with cool or tepid water, and only use your fingertips. Do not use a cleanser or moisturizer. Do not peel the skin. If any area is irritated, you may apply SkinMedica’s TNS Recovery Complex.
Day 3: Your skin will flake, peel and feel very tight today. Do not pick, pull or peel the skin at any time. If you were to peel skin that is not ready to come off, you can cause scarring or hyperpigmentation. You may carefully use manicure scissors to clip any hanging skin. Today and tomorrow you may want to avoid making any social plans. Begin using a gentle cleanser today, such as SkinMedica’s Sensitive Skin Cleanser or SkinMedica’s Facial Cleanser, and a strong hydrating cream, such as SkinMedica’s Dermal Repair. Do NOT use SPF or retinoids, retinol, acids, astringents or vitamin C. You must completely avoid the sun during this time. *Not all peels actually peel. This does not mean it is not working or that you are not receiving benefits from your peel.
Day 4: The majority of peeling takes place between days 3 and 4. Continue with cleansing and moisturizing. Some areas will have completely peeled and other areas may have not peeled at all. This is normal.
Day 5: Your skin may be tender for a few days. You may exfoliate the skin with a gentle scrub to remove any remaining skin that has not peeled. Continue to avoid sun exposure for the next two weeks. You may begin to wear SPF if it is not irritating.
Day 6: Ease back into your skin care products.
Between Weeks 1 & 2: You may resume waxing, tweezing, or depilatory (Nair) creams during this week. By the end of the second week, you should be able to tolerate glycolic, salicylic, vitamin C, and retinol or retinoid products. You may notice your skin is pink for about one more week.

Before Your Dermaplane Treatment

After Your Dermaplane Treatment

Immediately after your treatment, your skin may be sensitive for a few minutes. After this, you will notice smooth, glowing skin. However, you will still need to provide a bit of extra care for your skin for the first few days.
Continue to use your regular moisturizer, hydration or skin rejuvenation product such as SkinMedica’s HA5 Rejuvenating Hydrator or Skinbetter’s Face Treatment Cream. Your skincare products will penetrate more effectively after your dermaplane.
You can get a chemical peel and Botox and Filler right after a Dermaplane Treatment. But you cannot do Botox/Fillers or a Chemical peel and then do a dermaplane on the same day.
Avoid swimming, intense workouts and saunas for 2 days post-treatment.
Limit sun exposure for the first 3 days after your treatment, and use a mineral-based sunscreen such as SkinMedica’s essential Defense Everyday Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 47.
Use a gentle skin cleanser such as the Obagi Nu-Derm Gentle Cleanser.
Do not wax within the first week after your treatment.
If the area peels or flakes, do not pick or scrub, the dead skin will exfoliate naturally.

Microdermabrasion

Before Your Microdermabrasion Treatment

The preparation required before treatment is minimal but it is suggested that any retinol or tretinoin product should be discontinued 3 days before treatment.
Inform your provider before treatment if you have any skin allergies, are prone to cold sores, or have an active breakout.
If you have an active cold sore/fever blister, canker sore or shingles you will need to postpone treatment. If you are prone to developing cold sores/fever blisters or shingles, please contact us 1 week before treatment for recommendations.
If you have recently used the medication Accutane, it is recommended to postpone treatment until at least six months after stopping the medication.
Excess hair may need to be shaved. Men should be cleanly shaved 24 hours before treatment.

After Your Microdermabrasion Treatment

Immediately the following procedure, the skin may be slightly sensitive to the touch and pink in color. This redness will dissipate within an hour or so depending on individuals skin sensitivity. During the 2 days after treatment be sure to avoid swimming, intense workouts, and saunas.
Avoid sun exposure or wear a sunscreen of at least SPF 30.
Use only a gentle cleanser and moisturizer with limited active ingredients as the skin will be more reactive after the procedure.
Do not wax within the first week after the procedure.

Lash Lift and Tint

Before Your Lash Treatment

You may not be a good candidate for Lash Lifts & Tints if you have:

Chronic dry eye
Conjunctivitis
Damaged lashes or lashes with gaps (this treatment may make the gaps more noticeable)
Active eye infections of any kind
Trichotillomania (habitual pulling out of lashes)
Recent chemotherapy treatments (you will need to wait at least a year from your last treatment. When in doubt, always consult with your physician)
If you are pregnant

After Your Lash Treatment

Keep lashes dry for 24 hours post service.
You can use Latisse in combination with this treatment to prolong the results as Latisse slows down the rate at which lashes naturally fall out. However, do not apply Latisse for at least 24 hours.
Do not enter any swimming pools, saunas, steam rooms, etc for 24 hours post-treatment.

Microneedling

Before Your Microneedling Treatment

Schedule your procedure to allow for about 3-5 days of facial redness, possibly bruising and flaking.
Avoid any irritants (such as retinol, retinoid, glycolic, salicylic acids, benzoyl peroxide, alpha or beta hydroxy acids, astringents, Nair and Vitamin C) to your face for 7 days before treatment.
If your skin is irritated please contact our office at least 24 hours prior to appointment to reschedule.
If you have skin conditions, psoriasis, cystic or inflammatory acne, inform your clinician.
If you have an active cold sore, fever blister, canker sore, or shingles you will need to postpone treatment. If you are prone to developing cold sores, fever blisters, or shingles, please contact us 1 week before treatment for recommendations.
Do not schedule a procedure if you are pregnant, think you are pregnant or are breastfeeding. Pregnant or breastfeeding clients cannot get microneedling.
Patients actively undergoing chemotherapy or radiation treatment cannot be treated. A patient must be in remission 6 months to be treated.
You can do a Microneedling before a Wrinkle Relaxer on the same day, but not vise-versa. If you have had Microneedling, please wait at least 24 hours before scheduling a Wrinkle Relaxer appointment.
Inform your clinician of all medical conditions, medications you are taking, skin disorders, allergies, history of anaphylaxis, and any other medical problems.
Tylenol will not cause bruising and is preferred for the week prior to treatment. To avoid possible discomfort, you may take 1g of acetaminophen (i.e. Tylenol) one hour prior to your scheduled appointment.

After Your Microneedling Treatment

During the first 24 hours, you will need to keep your skin well moisturized with Vaseline or Cerave cream only. These two products are non-irritating, hypoallergenic, and are a good option for this 24 hour period. We have Cerave cream available at our office. Do not use any other products or makeup during the first 24 hours. If needed, the skin may be rinsed gently with lukewarm water between applications of Cerave, but cleansers should not be used within the first 24 hours.
After the procedure, your skin may look and feel like you have a sunburn. You may also experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch on the area being treated. This will diminish greatly by the next day following treatment. After 3 days most visible erythema (superficial reddening of the skin) will be resolved. Continue moisturizing with a non-irritating moisturizer like Cerave during this time period.
Do not exercise for 48 hours post-treatment as sweating can irritate the skin and cause an outbreak.
3-5 days post-treatment, resume a normal gentle skin care regimen unless otherwise instructed by your clinician. You may find that you are sensitive to products that you usually use and tolerate well–wait 5-7 days before applying retinol, Vitamin C or salicylic acid, or glycolic acids. If your skin still feels more sensitive than usual, hold off on these products and continue using Cerave moisturizer.
Some clients may experience flaking 3-5 days post-treatment. If this occurs do not pull or pick flaking skin. Continue using a gentle cleanser and a moisturizer until flaking resolves. You may schedule a dermaplane 5-7 days after treatment to help exfoliate flaking.
Makeup may be applied after 24-48 hours post-treatment. Mineral makeups are best.
You should always wear an SPF of 30 when exposed to any sunlight. SPF must not be applied for the first 48-72 hours, so sun exposure must be avoided.

Follow Up

While you may see visible results after the first treatment. Lasting and more significant results will be seen after 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart, supplemented by a recommended skin care regimen.
We recommend maintenance treatments after your initial series of 3-4 times a year.
Please note that skin-damaging activities such as smoking and sun exposure can damage your skin and prevent yours from seeing full results.

Before Your PRP Treatment

If you develop a fever, cold, flu, or develop a cold sore, blemish, or rash, etc. in the area to be treated prior to your appointment, you must reschedule your appointment.
It is recommended that if you have a special event or vacation coming up, you should schedule your treatment at least 1 week in advance.
If you are being treated in the lip area and have a history of Herpes (cold sores) with outbreaks more than 2 times a year, you will need to be pre-treated with antiviral medication. We recommend Valtrex 2gm the day before or the morning of the treatment followed by another 2gm 12 hours after the first dose. Please let us know if you need a prescription if you do not have the medication on hand.
Discontinue the use of anti-inflammatory agents (NSAIDs) such as Advil, Aleve, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Naprosyn, etc., at least 1 week before your treatment. One of the purposes of PRP is to induce inflammation and these medications limit or prevent inflammation. You may take Tylenol or other Acetaminophen-containing products as directed.
Discontinue the use of any blood thinning agents such as Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver, Essential Fatty Acids (EPA, DHA), etc., for at least 1 week before treatment to minimize bruising and bleeding.
You will not be able to undergo a treatment if you are or have been on systemic corticosteroids (Prednisone, Methylprednisolone, etc.) within 2 weeks of treatment. Consult your provider (Biotech) for approval to discontinue use of corticosteroids for this procedure.
It is recommended that you avoid alcohol, caffeine, niacin, spicy foods, and cigarettes 3 days before your treatment as these products may increase the risk of bleeding.
Maintain a healthy diet and drink at least 64 oz. of water the day before and the day of the treatment. It is important to be well hydrated, as you will be giving blood.

After Your PRP Treatment

After the treatment, your skin will be slightly pink and feel slightly sunburned. For most people, your skin will completely recover in 24-72 hours. Your body’s collagen production usually takes about 4-8 weeks, so you will continue to see improvements over this time.
No makeup to the area of treatment for at least 24 hours post microneedling with PRP.
Apply CeraVe moisturizer to the area of treatment daily following treatment. You may purchase this at any of our locations.
