Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, is a great addition to your skincare routine. This is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that involves the use of a physician-grade device called the SkinPen. The SkinPen contains fine needles used to minimally puncture the skin and create a controlled skin injury. In these tiny punctures, a channel is created that triggers the body to fill these microscopic wounds by stimulating collagen production!
This anti-aging procedure is perfect for improving acne scars, skin texture, fine lines, and wrinkles. Even when the procedure includes no added topical anesthetic, the rush of collagen and elastin to heal these microscopic wounds improves the skin’s appearance.
Microneedling has been proven to reduce scarring, pore size, and stretch marks, as well as harder-to-treat issues such as hypertrophic and burn scars on the body, face, arms, and legs. This treatment can be performed on anyone between the ages of 16 and 60+ – it is truly a treatment for everyone!
What should I expect during treatment?
This procedure requires little to no downtime and can be customized to go deeper into the skin where damage requires a more aggressive approach to treatment. The forehead and bridge of the nose tend to be the most sensitive areas, but for the most part, you’ll just feel small vibrations and find this treatment very comfortable. Numbing is provided during your procedure, so you won’t feel the actual needles.
After the treatment is over, your face will be pink or red (comparable to a slight sunburn) and you may want to lie low the rest of the day. By the following morning, you can return to your routine and use a gentle cleanser, SPF and even apply a little makeup if you wish! Usually, multiple treatments are necessary to achieve the best results with Microneedling. The number of sessions you will need depends on your skin condition, and your Master Provider will create a treatment plan tailored specifically for you. Three or four treatments are usually recommended for mild to moderate acne scarring, whereas deeper scars and stretch marks may require five or more treatments!
What’s the difference between Standard and Upgraded Microneedling?
We offer a few variants of this fantastic treatment. When you come to Juvly, you can choose from either our Standard procedure or the Upgraded package. Both procedures use the Blue SkinPen Precision device.
If you have to go right back to work, we apply Oxygenetics mineral makeup so you can resume your daily activities. Oxygenetix Foundation contains safe and healthy ingredients that promote the healing and production of new skin cells following aesthetic procedures. Ask your provider or aesthetician about it!
Microneedling with PRP
Microneedling with PRP is the ultimate skin-transforming spa treatment. We take a small blood sample and place it into a centrifuge that spins the sample at a high speed to isolate the Platelet Rich Plasma.
The PRP is applied topically to the skin while the treatment is being done. Platelet Rich Plasma is a concentration of platelets in the blood that are crucial to the healing of wounds. Applying PRP after Microneedling is more effective than direct injections of PRP to your skin. The microchannels from the needles allow for even distribution across the treatment area and absorption into deeper layers of the skin. PRP initiates a localized stem cell response.
Over the weeks and months following treatment, this stem cell response recruits collagen-producing cells to heal tissue that has been damaged or lost through the aging process. The result is healthy skin that looks refreshed and rejuvenated!
Several studies have compared the effects of Microneedling with and without the application of PRP, and the results are clear! Just one session of Microneedling with PRP produces similar results to multiple sessions of Microneedling without PRP. It depends on how quickly you want to see results, and how much time you’re willing to invest in the treatment.
As a treatment for scarring, fine lines, and wrinkles, both Microneedling and PRP work well. However, their true power is unleashed when used together. If you’ve struggled with deep acne scars for years and nothing seems to help, this treatment could be right for you!
